{ video commentary } Grand Ayatollah James Dobson calls down Republican Jesus against 3D and his daughter
Saddling Jesus with Republican Party doctrine
A hard rain's a-gonna fall:
Unfortunately for us, it really irks Grand Ayatollah James Dobson that a small business entrepreneur and his ninth-grade daughter would want to witness our country's shift away from the Republican authoritarianism that the Grand Ayatollah blesses. In fact, the Grand Ayatollah is so threatened by us – and by a stadium – and a nation – filled with others like us – that he has beseeched Republican Jesus (à la Bob and Justin Schaffer) to – yes indeedy – "cause it to rain upon the earth [and] destroy from off the face of the earth" anyone attending Obama's speech at Mile High Stadium (i.e., Invesco Field). Watch the video, and hear for yourself.
The Carpetbagger Report (linked above) will fill you in on the details, but it seems the Grand Ayatollah regretted the negative publicity generated as a result of his partisan prayers. His supplications were intended for God's eyes and those of the faithful only, but they leaked out to a wider audience. That forced the Grand Ayatollah to remove the video from the Focus On The Family website and to claim that the video had been always intended as a joke.
My daughter and I are certainly happy about the prospect of hearing Barack Obama accept the Democratic Party's nomination for President, but we are also proud that Obama's vision of America embraces something greater than the theology of self-interest preached by Grand Ayatollah James Dobson.

There's been an almost apology.

It's entitle Mea Culpa. But if you watch it, he's not really sorry for feeling the way he does/did. He's sorry that he got caught.
He says that he produced the video for his viewers. The fact that other people in the world saw it, well, it wasn't for them.
Does he also tell his kids that it's ok to say whatever they want, as long as it's only to a select audience? Oh wait, that's Justin Schaffer.

Apparently, he really sucks at praying for rain (or at least he sucks at manipulating the forecast)
It's supposed to be 70 and partly cloudy today. So take sunscreen instead of an umbrella.

The Ayatollah must be loosing his touch, because it was a beautiful Colorado day -- sunny with temps in the 80s (with pretty bad smog over Denver). But the acceptance speech and everything that lead up to it would have made the Ayatollah feel like his skin was covered in boils. I'll write about it soon and post the photos.

That's just too cool that you guys got to attend. I'm jealous, and due to a wicked case of jet-lag, was able to watch the convention until late each night - and I am glad that I did. I'm looking forward to what you have to say about it.
Now for Pallin. Just bizzare.
